Aronofsky has previously collaborated with A24 on The Whale, a project that earned star Brendan Fraser an Academy Award. The option deal for the book was highly competitive, attracting major studios and filmmakers alike.
Published by Simon & Schuster, Issacson’s book explores Musk’s upbringing in South Africa by his engineer father, Errol Musk, and dietician mother, Maye Musk, who later became a model.
Issacson spent two years shadowing Musk, attending his meetings, touring his companies’ factories, and conducting interviews to provide insight into Musk’s life and achievements. By 2022, Tesla had sold one million electric cars and SpaceX launched 31 rockets into space.
Issacson’s previous work about tech pioneer Steve Jobs was adapted into a film with Michael Fassbender playing Jobs, and Danny Boyle directing a screenplay by Aaron Sorkin.
Details surrounding the Elon Musk film adaptation are currently under wraps, with the project first being reported by Puck.
