Elon Musk Urges James Woods to Delete His Account

Elon Musk’s decision to eliminate the “block” option on X, formerly known as Twitter, has received backlash from long-time supporter James Woods. Woods, an Oscar-nominated actor with a substantial following, criticized Musk’s move, stating that it would make the site “untenable” for public figures like himself. Woods claimed to have been targeted by trolls during a libel suit and expressed concern that removing the block button would leave individuals vulnerable to harassment. In response, Musk suggested that Woods should delete his account if he disagreed with the decision.

One of Woods’ supporters echoed his sentiments, stating that they should prevent the removal of the block feature. Woods expanded on his criticism, claiming that if Musk eliminated the option to block concerted harassment, X would be no different from Twitter, which he described as “horrid.” Woods also accused Musk of prioritizing advertisers over users, referring to them as “pawns” for the site’s transformation into an online shopping center. Woods concluded that Musk, whom he once believed to be a proponent of free speech, is nothing more than a “greedy capitalist.”

Musk did not take the criticism lightly and responded by telling Woods to delete his account. However, Musk’s decision to eliminate the block option has alienated some of his supporters on X. One account, “Wall Street Silver,” criticized the move as a mistake, emphasizing the importance of the block feature to protect users from unwanted interactions.

In a show of defiance, Musk taunted his critics by blocking those who complained about the removal of the block feature. Despite Musk’s intentions, it may be challenging for him to implement this change. X users pointed out that removing the block option could violate the terms of service for Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store, potentially leading to the removal of X from these platforms. However, there are no such restrictions for the web-app version of X.

It is important for X to adhere to the guidelines set by the App Store and Play Store, which require apps to include a mechanism for blocking abusive users. The Post has reached out to Apple, Google, and X for further clarification on this matter.
