Elizabeth Holmes’ Sentence Reduced

The prison sentence of Elizabeth Holmes has been reduced by two years, according to the Bureau of Prisons website. Originally projected to be released on December 12, 2034, her new projected release date is now December 12, 2032. The change in her sentence aligns with federal sentencing guidelines, which require federal crime convicts to serve at least 85% of their sentence. Holmes was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months, meaning she may serve around 9 years and 7 months if the new date remains accurate. This update was reported by the Guardian.

Sunny Balwani, the former president and COO of Theranos, who was also convicted of fraud, has also had his original 13-year sentence reduced by two years. He is now expected to be released in 2034. According to Gizmodo, good behavior and participation in activities or programs while in prison can result in sentence reductions. However, the specific details about these reductions are not disclosed due to privacy, safety, and security reasons, as stated by a Bureau of Prisons representative in the New York Post.
