Dorian Thompson-Robinson Out with Concussion, Browns QB to Miss Game vs. Broncos

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson left the game against the Denver Broncos with a concussion following a hard hit at the end of a pass play during Sunday’s 29-12 loss.

Thompson-Robinson exited the game when the Browns were trailing 17-12 just before the end of the third quarter after getting hit while throwing an incompletion. He took an extra moment to get up after going to the ground hard.

Broncos linebacker Baron Browning was penalized for roughing the passer. Though Thompson-Robinson was able to walk off the field under his own power, the broadcast showed him with a bloody mouth. He later walked to the locker room with a towel over his head and was ruled out of the game.

After the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski commented, “There’s obviously, like all of our guys, some good, some bad, some stuff we can learn from. He’s battling, as you know, took a shot there unfortunately and you never want to see your quarterback get hit like that, but he battled.”

Backup quarterback P.J. Walker came into the game as the only available QB, as third-stringer Joe Flacco was not activated.

The Browns will face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13, and Thompson-Robinson’s status is to be determined. When asked if Flacco could fill in, Stefanski was non-committal, stating, “I’m not there yet. We’ll see.”

Thompson-Robinson started his third game for the Browns this season. Before leaving the game, he was 14-for-29 passing for 134 yards, leading the Browns on a touchdown drive on the team’s last possession (though they missed the two-point conversion).

Throughout his five appearances this season, the rookie out of UCLA was 58-of-109 passing for 429 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions.

Walker, who has also started two games for the Browns this year, had five interceptions in five appearances leading up to Sunday’s game. He finished out the final quarter 6-of-13 passing for 56 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
