Donald Trump Faces Accusation of Censorship by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

In a conversation with Martha MacCallum, the underdog candidate for the 2024 Democratic nomination subtly criticized the former president. However, any slight dig at the twice-indicted Republican candidate can often elicit a volatile response.

First, the prominent anti-vaxxer accused President Joe Biden and his administration of censoring him on social media. He baselessly claimed that Biden was responsible for his ban from Instagram in 2021 over COVID-19 misinformation.

Kennedy further stated, “By the way, President Trump also censored me. Not for spreading misinformation, but for what they labeled as ‘malinformation.’ This refers to information that, although true, is inconvenient to the White House or contradicts official orthodoxies.”

In 2017, Kennedy claimed that Trump had chosen him to lead a commission on vaccine safety before the former president took office. Kennedy, who would later be known for his skepticism about COVID-19, had made multiple debunked assertions linking childhood vaccines to autism. (HuffPost removed his posts, along with others spreading vaccine misinformation, from its site when it closed its unpaid contributor platform in 2017.)

During that time, Trump’s team confirmed that Kennedy had a meeting with the president-elect and discussed various topics, including the possibility of forming a committee on autism. However, no decisions were made, and the committee never came to fruition.

Despite their differences in policy, Kennedy and Trump have recently maintained a friendly relationship.

Only time will tell if this mutual admiration continues.

Kennedy testified at a House hearing on Thursday, where he attempted to downplay his anti-vaccine views and complained about what he claimed was censorship on social media. Democrats also questioned him about his recent unfounded statement that “COVID-19 targets Caucasians and Black people” and that Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people are most immune.
