MANILA, Philippines–If the historic run to the gold medal in the Hangzhou Asian Games is used as a barometer, Justin Brownlee may have put an end to any debate about which naturalized player Gilas Pilipinas will have moving forward.
“Yes, definitely,” said Alfrancis Chua, Gilas’ team manager during the continental meet, when asked about the performance that seems to have validated Brownlee’s case.
This has also sparked speculation on whether Brownlee would have been a better fit for the Fiba Basketball World Cup than Utah Jazz standout Jordan Clarkson.
Clarkson had a memorable showing for Gilas during the final World Cup game against China, preventing an embarrassing winless campaign at home.
