Debunking the Myth: Braverman Denies Using Migrants Speech as Tory Leadership Audition

Lucy Frazer refrained from expressing her agreement or disagreement with Suella Braverman’s controversial statement about the failure of multiculturalism and the existential challenge posed by uncontrolled, illegal immigration to the Western nations. During an interview on Times Radio, the Culture Secretary was asked about her stance on the Home Secretary’s comments. In response, she stated, “Well, it is widely acknowledged that globally, uncontrolled and illegal immigration presents a problem. This is not only affecting numerous countries in the West, but the United Nations also estimates that 108 million individuals will have been displaced by the end of 2022.”

“These are complex issues that require global solutions, and it is exactly what our country has been striving to achieve,” she continued.

The Culture Secretary further highlighted the efforts of the government in tackling illegal immigration, saying, “As you may be aware, we have successfully negotiated an historic agreement with France to combat the Channel boat crossings. Additionally, we have reached a bilateral agreement with Albania to facilitate the return of individuals from Albania, considering it is deemed a safe country. As a result, this year, we have managed to decrease illegal, uncontrolled immigration by 23 percent compared to last year.”

When questioned once again about her agreement with the comments, Ms. Frazer veered away from a direct response, instead emphasizing the importance of integrating those who seek refuge in the United Kingdom into the local communities. She stated, “Having read the Home Secretary’s speech in its entirety, it is crucial that we focus on integrating individuals who come to our country into our society, ensuring they embrace our British values.”
