Dates of Walkouts and the Impacted Services

Commuters are set to face a summer of travel chaos as 20,000 rail workers prepare for a three-day strike in their ongoing dispute over pay. In addition, train drivers have announced a fresh overtime ban, which threatens to disrupt services during the peak summer holiday period.

The strike action, organized by the RMT, will take place at 14 train operators across England after the companies failed to present an improved pay offer. The upcoming strikes will have an impact on fans who are planning to attend two Ashes Tests and The Open Championship golf tournament.

London Underground workers have also scheduled four days of walkouts in July.

When will the next train strikes occur?

The RMT has announced that 20,000 rail workers, including station staff, train managers, and catering workers across the UK, will strike on the following dates:

  • Thursday, July 20
  • Saturday, July 22
  • Saturday, July 29

These three days of strikes will impact cricket fans travelling to the fourth and fifth Ashes Tests. The fourth Test will be held at Old Trafford in Manchester from Wednesday, July 19 to Sunday, July 23, while the fifth Test in London will run from Thursday, July 27 to Monday, July 31.

In addition, the strikes will clash with The Open Championship, which will take place from Thursday, July 20 to Sunday, July 23 at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

Meanwhile, train drivers have announced a fresh overtime ban. Members of Aslef at 15 train operating companies will refuse to work overtime from Monday, July 31 to Saturday, August 5 as part of their ongoing pay dispute.

This will be the fourth week-long ban on overtime since May. Previous strikes organized by RMT and Aslef in May caused significant disruption for rail passengers, including those attending the FA Cup final, the Epsom Derby, Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” world tour concert at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the Eurovision final in Liverpool.
