Continuing to Thrive Against All Odds: The Movie That Faced Media Suppression

The ongoing culture war has reached a point where even a movie against child trafficking is controversial according to the left. Actor Jim Caviezel portrays a real-life government agent who fought tirelessly against this hideous practice worldwide. Despite the efforts of journalists to hinder its success, the movie “Sound of Freedom” has emerged triumphant.

It is an understatement to say that “Sound of Freedom” has been well-received by the public. Not only does it have a perfect 100% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes with over 10,000 ratings, but critics who have seen the film also gave it a 74% rating. CinemaScore awarded it an A+, and it has already grossed $85 million at the box office, with estimates pointing to a final total near $100 million once the weekend figures are calculated. This weekend, it was only beaten by Tom Cruise’s latest “Mission Impossible” film.

The leftist media, however, has spared no effort in attempting to destroy the movie. It has been labeled “controversial,” “divisive,” “propaganda,” and a “hype machine.” Journalists have also repeatedly tried to associate it with QAnon conspiracy theories.

These attacks come as no surprise, given how Hollywood and the liberal media have long embraced exploitative movies involving children and sexual themes, from Brooke Shields in “Pretty Baby” to the controversial film “Cuties.”

‘SOUND OF FREEDOM’ ACTOR CALLS OUT MEDIA ATTACKS ON HIT FILM

“Cuties” provides an apt comparison when discussing this hypocrisy, as the recent French coming-of-age film about an 11-year-old girl stirred immense controversy and led to massive protests against Netflix. While “Cuties” received only a 15% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, critics defended it fiercely, awarding it an 87% rating.

Publications like The Washington Post ran articles urging viewers to watch “Cuties,” with one culture columnist stating, “The people freaking out about ‘Cuties’ should try it. They might find a lot to like.” Another reporter described the film as “one of the more compelling movies you’ve likely seen in months. Funny and deeply uncomfortable, sweet and sometimes sad.”

However, when a movie portrays pedophilia as evil, the media responds with attacks. Rolling Stone, for example, dismissed “Sound of Freedom” as a movie designed for conspiracy-addled boomers and criticized its focus on a so-called “grossly exaggerated ‘epidemic’ of child sex-trafficking.” Despite experts estimating that there are 4.5 million victims of sex trafficking worldwide, Rolling Stone claimed that “conservatives remain obsessed” with the issue.

The most common criticism of the film has been attempting to link it to conspiracy theories, particularly QAnon. This constant repetition by journalists highlights their obsession with the conspiracy group, rather than reflecting the interests of ordinary Americans.

CNN provides a prime example of this, as they mentioned “QAnon” 10 times in less than two minutes during a segment. The host of “CNN Tonight” even undermined the film’s genuine premise by suggesting that it merely feeds into the QAnon conspiracy theory.

Film critic Ruben Rosario from Miami Art Zine labeled “Sound of Freedom” as “self-aggrandizing propaganda with its heart in the right place,” while Slate expressed displeasure with certain members of the audience acting like they were in “Top Gun.”

The Guardian attempted to downplay the film’s success by referring to it beating the new Indiana Jones movie as a momentary blip. They also tied the film to an alleged unsavory network of boosterism among the far-right fringe, suggesting a linkage that is tenuous at best.

Interestingly, these attacks come from the same legacy press that rarely criticizes the influx of money from communist China into Hollywood. China, despite committing genocide against the Uyghurs, suppressing democracy in Hong Kong, and threatening Taiwan, seems to escape scrutiny.

“Sound of Freedom” is based on the life of former Homeland Security special agent Tim Ballard, who dedicated his career to fighting sex trafficking. Ballard even established Operation Underground Railroad, an organization focused on rescuing exploited children. CBS News featured Ballard back in 2014 when he led a raid that saved over 50 individuals, many of whom were children. This inspiring story formed the basis for the movie.

“Sound of Freedom” not only highlights these crucial victories but also showcases the gradual liberation of Americans from the influence of the left. Despite the media’s best efforts to suppress it, the film promotes values such as faith and freedom, which were once championed by liberals as well. It demonstrates that movies like this can succeed without relying on the legacy media.
