Manchester United fans have voiced their disappointment and confusion over the decision to award Bayern Munich a penalty in their recent Champions League encounter. The penalty came after Christian Eriksen was penalised for handball when he was struck by Dayot Upamecano’s header from a corner.

Initially, Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg did not award a penalty to Bayern Munich, who were leading 2-1 due to goals from Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry. However, after a VAR review, the official reversed his decision and granted the penalty, which was successfully converted by Harry Kane, giving Bayern a 3-1 advantage in the group stage clash.

Man United fans took to social media to express their frustration with the penalty decision, highlighting the short distance between Upamecano and Eriksen. One fan wrote, “Can’t believe they gave that penalty…are we actually cursed?” while another added, “I definitely don’t understand what makes a penalty anymore.”

Despite the criticism, some fans acknowledged that Eriksen was partially at fault for losing possession in the buildup to the incident. A tweet read, “Eriksen lost the ball very clumsily before the penalty situation.”
