The band Bon Jovi took notice of the video and responded by reposting it online with the message: “This is for the ones who stood their ground,” which is a line from the song.
Christie revealed that he mentioned his meeting with Zelensky to Jon Bon Jovi, who then personally wrote out the song’s lyrics from his home on Long Island. The handwritten lyrics were then sent to Christie in New Jersey via helicopter. Christie proudly presented the framed lyrics to President Zelensky, explaining that the song represents the sentiments of many Americans who support the cause being fought for in Ukraine.
Notably, Christie is the second GOP presidential candidate to visit Ukraine since the start of the war. Former Vice President Mike Pence also met with Zelensky in late June. Christie’s visit and gift showcase his stance on providing aid to Ukraine and his support for the Ukrainian people.
