NEW YORK, June 16 (UPI) — Charles Vandervaart, known for his roles in “Murdoch Mysteries” and “Lost in Space,” reflects on joining the cast of “Outlander” for the highly anticipated seventh season. Initially overwhelming, Vandervaart shares his excitement and gratitude for the warm reception from fans. Portraying William Ransom, the adult son of the show’s central hero Jamie Fraser, Vandervaart feels privileged to be part of such a talented cast and crew.

As the new season premieres on Starz, William arrives in North Carolina with the British Army, reuniting with Jamie and his time-traveling wife, Claire. However, William remains unaware of his true parentage, having been raised in England by his stepfather, Lord John Grey. Vandervaart reveals that his character is passionate, emotional, and often driven by anger. Yet, he has much to learn and grow as he finds himself on the opposite side of the American-British conflict.

David Berry, who portrays Lord John Grey, discusses the challenges and complexities his character faces as a father figure to adult son William during a time of war. Berry humorously mentions that the cast has been “parenting” Vandervaart through their presence and guidance on set, forming a strong bond within the “Outlander” family.

John Bell, known for his role as Jamie’s nephew Ian, expresses his appreciation for the character development he has experienced over the years. Bell enjoys the evolving relationship between Ian and Jamie, as well as the tender bond shared between Ian and his beloved Auntie Claire. He hints at a potential love interest for Ian this season, adding a new dimension to his character.

For fans of Lord John Grey, Berry promises that the already complicated dynamics among the characters will become even more twisted and unexpected. The upcoming seventh season of “Outlander” continues to captivate audiences with its rich storytelling and exceptional performances from the talented cast.

Based on the popular book series by Diana Gabaldon, “Outlander” has been renewed for an eighth and final season, further solidifying its place as a beloved and enduring television phenomenon.
