Cameron Asserts Britain’s Dependence on EU for Global Success

In a recent TV appearance, David Cameron confidently stated that it is possible for the UK to remain in the EU and still have control over immigration. However, his lack of action in this area raises questions about his true intentions.

In a Sky television interview, Cameron’s response to a question about controlling immigration was simply to claim that Brexit would have a detrimental impact on the UK economy. This is a stark contrast from his words last November when he praised Britain’s economy and its ability to thrive outside of the EU. It seems that Cameron has succumbed to the fear-mongering tactics of Project Fear.

William Hague suggests that those who support leaving the EU do not have a clear plan for what Britain should do if it actually leaves. However, regaining control over our borders and courts of justice would be a good starting point.

Allister Heath highlights the risks of remaining in the EU, pointing out the organization’s inability to handle its economic and social crisis. The high levels of youth unemployment, ongoing migrant crises, and the rise of extreme nationalism all demonstrate the potential consequences of the next eurozone crisis. Staying in the EU is not the safe option the Remain camp claims it to be.

The leaders of EU nations urging Britain to stay now come across as insincere, considering the lack of meaningful reforms and concessions offered during Britain’s renegotiation. The irony is evident in Angela Merkel’s statements and actions, as she blocked Britain’s request for restrictions on freedom of movement.

It is unusual for a club to resort to bullying and blackmail to retain its members. If a member expresses their desire to leave, the club typically makes an effort to understand their reasons and find a way to keep them. This applies to the EU as well.

Peace at last
