Lucian Tudor, the CEO of the upscale restaurant La Boheme, disclosed that he has reduced his staff from 120 to 80 in an effort to reduce costs. January saw the city’s minimum wage rise by $1, reaching $17.50 per hour for businesses employing at least 50 individuals.
Amidst this development, Nevada’s lowest-wage workers can also expect a pay increase as a result of the minimum wage hike. Tudor, who advocates for a minimum wage structure that takes into account tips similar to that in New York City, expressed his disdain for these pay increases, labeling them as mere superficiality and a ploy for opportunistic politicians to gain visibility.

For hotel workers in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, the minimum pay for establishments with 60 rooms or more climbed to $19.73 per hour, an increase from $18.86. Seattle held the highest minimum wage position among U.S. cities in January, with an hourly rate of $18.69.
Norberto Ruiz, an employee at a liquor store in West Hollywood, expressed his gratitude for last summer’s wage increase, as it allowed his family to purchase a $150 air conditioner.
