6-Year-Old Girl Uses Alexa to Save Her Mom’s Life Twice

A remarkable story emerges from Scotland as a mother hails her young daughter as a hero for using Alexa to save her life—twice. Emma Anderson, now 27, was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition where the heart muscle becomes excessively thick, when she was just 15 years old, as reported by Sky News. Last year, she underwent a life-saving heart transplant, but prior to that, her daughter Darcey, now 6 years old, had to rely on their Amazon device to call for help. Darcey had been aware from a very young age that her mother had a “sore heart.”

In an interview with the BBC, Anderson explained, “I set up the Alexa so that if I passed out or was feeling unwell, all she had to do was say, ‘Alexa, call help,’ and that would alert my mother who lives nearby. There were a few occasions when Darcey had to use Alexa, once even calling an ambulance on her own when I was in critical condition. I am incredibly proud of her; she is truly a little superstar.”

Anderson also shared with the BBC that after an extended wait on the transplant list, her heart failed last year. She received an urgent transplant after spending 10 days on an aortic balloon pump to keep her heart functioning. The transplant has completely transformed her life, allowing her to marry her partner Conner last summer. “I now have a brand new life,” she said. “I can walk Darcey to school, pick her up, and walk back home, something I could never do before.” (Read more Alexa stories.)
