Calgary’s Youthful Ambassador: Young Boy with Down Syndrome Takes Center Stage in Awareness Campaign

Embarking on a remarkable journey at just four years old, Kolby Swanson, a young resident of Calgary, has been selected to be part of a campaign showcased in New York’s Time Square.

“He will be featured on the jumbotron,” proudly stated Telara Renz, Kolby’s mom.

The campaign is in support of the National Down Syndrome Society and aims to spread the message of acceptance by projecting the images of hundreds of young individuals with Down Syndrome on the giant screens of Time Square on September 9.

“If a mother out there witnesses the joy Kolby brings, maybe it will diminish the fear that accompanies the diagnosis,” Renz added.

Kolby Swanson’s career is just beginning as he recently signed with a talent agency. Apart from this campaign, he has multiple projects in the pipeline, including a commercial.

Renz hopes that this campaign will inspire individuals, especially students returning to school, to embrace kindness.

“It’s an ideal time to discuss with your children the importance of kindness. People with Down Syndrome make incredible friends and have a lot to offer and teach. Let’s celebrate kindness and invite them to play,” Renz encourages.
