Bryce Young takes responsibility for two pick-6s in tough game

Charlotte Nov 5, 2023 (AP) — Bryce Young Takes Responsibility Amid Struggles

Amid constant pressure and criticism, Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Bryce Young is taking sole responsibility for the team’s ongoing struggles. Despite being sacked 26 times and hit 53 times in his seven NFL starts, Young refuses to place blame elsewhere, noting the shortcomings are squarely on him, including Sunday’s 27-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, a game in which two of his three interceptions were returned for touchdowns by cornerback Kenny Moore. Despite acknowledging the difficult situation, Young remains resolute and determined to move forward with a positive outlook.

“I turned the ball over three times and two of them turned into 14 points, and that’s how you lose a game,” Young said. “Everyone else around me did a great job and it’s on me. It is what it is, and I have to be better. But no one is going to feel sorry for me and no one is going to feel sorry for us.”

If the Bears manage to secure a win against the Panthers (1-7), they will significantly improve their draft position for the 2024 season. Chicago currently owns Carolina’s first-round pick as part of the deal that landed Panthers’ the No. 1 overall pick to get Young. The pressure to perform is mounting for Young, averaging fewer than 200 yards passing per game with only eight touchdown passes and seven interceptions.

Despite the struggles, Panthers coach Frank Reich remains committed to Young and emphasizes the need to endure these challenging times. While Young may appear to have hit a setback, the coach believes it’s part of the growth process.

Reich reassures, “I told Bryce I’ve seen the best quarterbacks in the game have way worse games than this. Way worse. You don’t flinch. In some ways, it’s good for him to go through this. In some ways, it’s good to kind of have to bounce back after something like this.”

Young expressed his determination to overcome this latest defeat and move forward, eager to use the upcoming game on Thursday as an opportunity to rectify the recent struggles and set sights on a better outcome.
