British Woman Suzanne Cassidy Dragged into Propellers after Diving from Boat in Ibiza

Scot Suzanne Cassidy had a harrowing experience when she was pulled into the propeller blades of a speedboat while being dragged through the water on an inflatable doughnut ring. Luckily, she managed to grab onto the side of the boat and twist her body to avoid being severely injured by the sharp blades. Her friends swiftly pulled her back onto the boat and rushed her to the hospital as she began to bleed profusely from a leg wound, which required stitches. Additionally, she suffered a broken leg.

Suzanne underwent an emergency operation at Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza Town to align the broken bone and secure it with pins. Despite the severity of the accident, she is now on the road to recovery. She expressed her gratitude for being alive and shared the intense moments she experienced during the incident. Suzanne recounted feeling the force of the engine pulling her leg towards the propellers, leading her to twist herself out of harm’s way. She only realized the bone was protruding from her leg after regaining consciousness following the operation, which lasted for over four hours. The exact number of stitches and pins used to treat her injuries remains unknown.

The accident occurred in Cala Conta, a picturesque cove near the popular party destination of San Antonio in Ibiza. Suzanne had been participating in festivities for a friend’s 30th birthday celebration. She had been swimming towards a larger boat after her turn on the inflatable ring when the incident took place. Suzanne’s doctors anticipate her hospital stay to last for several more days, and she will need time to heal before she can board a flight. Despite these challenges, she remains hopeful about returning to Scotland at the end of September, where she will focus on recuperating and, eventually, dancing without a limp.

Local Civil Guard officers have launched an investigation into the incident, while the boat owners involved have not commented on the matter.
