He referred to the recent mutiny led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group, as an expose of the deterioration and instability within Putin’s autocratic regime. Despite the swift resolution and Putin’s attempts to save face, Moore suggested that the incident had increased pressure on the Russian leader.
In his speech, Moore also mentioned the story of an MI6 agent known as Ecclesiastic, who successfully infiltrated German intelligence during World War II. He shared that the service supported Ecclesiastic until her death at the age of 100, with MI6 agents gathering to scatter her ashes in the English Channel. This anecdote illustrated the lifelong loyalty and gratitude that MI6 extends to its agents.
