British Maritime Agency Reports Red Sea Drone Attack: Latest Update

Reports from Britain’s Maritime Trade Operations agency (UKMTO) have noted a drone attack in the Bab al-Mandab strait of the Red Sea on Sunday.

UKMTO previously reported drone activity of Yemeni origin and a potential explosion, urging caution among nearby vessels.

Reuters has been unable to verify these reports independently.

This incident follows a string of attacks in Middle Eastern waters since the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and Hamas on October 7.

Last month, the Houthi group, an ally of Iran, seized an Israeli-linked cargo ship and has since threatened further attacks on Israeli vessels.

The Houthi group has not yet commented on this issue.

Recently, a U.S. Navy warship responded to a distress call from an Israeli-managed commercial tanker seized by armed individuals in the Gulf of Aden.
