New York Yankees slugger and reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge achieved another milestone in franchise history on Friday night. Judge hit three home runs in the team’s victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks (NYY 7, ARI 1), making him the first player in Yankees history to have multiple three-homer games in a season. He previously hit three homers against the Washington Nationals on Aug. 23.

“It’s incredible,” Judge expressed to MLB.com when asked about his achievement. “You see the list of players that have come through here and the retired numbers out there. I’m just trying to do my job. I got into some good counts, and guys in front of me were getting on base, creating some havoc out there. So I’m just happy to come away with the win.”

Watch the highlights of Judge’s three-homer night at Yankee Stadium below. Please note that he was left on deck in the ninth inning and did not have a chance at a fourth home run.

Judge is now the 24th player in MLB history to have multiple three-homer games in a season, with the last player being Jesse Winker in 2021. He also joins the elite company of six Yankees players who have achieved this feat in their careers. Lou Gehrig holds the record with four three-homer games, while Joe DiMaggio and Alex Rodriguez have three each. Tony Lazzeri and Bobby Murcer both have two, and now Judge is part of this exclusive group.

Despite missing 43 games due to a toe injury earlier in the season, Judge has managed to hit 35 home runs in the 100 games he has played. It’s worth noting that he is still playing with a torn ligament. With some games remaining in the season, Judge has a chance to reach the 40-home run mark.

Throughout the season, Judge has maintained a batting average of .267, an on-base percentage of .401, and a slugging percentage of .609 despite the toe injury. He currently ranks third in the American League for home runs and sixth in walks. Unfortunately, the Yankees have had a disappointing season with a record of 78-76 and will soon be eliminated from postseason contention.
