Boost your Expectations: Samsung Galaxy S24 Anticipated to Outperform Galaxy S23 by 10%

After a few years without any major successes following the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S10, Samsung regained its momentum with the Galaxy S23 series, which boasted impressive performance. Now, the South Korean company is anticipating even greater success with its next flagship phone, the Galaxy S24, surpassing the sales of the Galaxy S23.

Anticipated Sales of 35 Million Units for the Galaxy S24

According to a report from The Korea Daily, Samsung has set a shipment target of 35 million units for the Galaxy S24 series, which is 10% higher than the Galaxy S23 series. The announcement of the Galaxy S24 series is expected in January 2024, and it will mark Samsung’s first ‘AI Galaxy Phone.’ In comparison, the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 sold less than 30 million units, while the Galaxy S23 series reached 31 million units. Earlier today, Samsung also revealed its expectation to ship 253 million smartphones, including the Galaxy S24, in 2024.

An industry insider has stated that Samsung’s shipment numbers might slightly increase or decrease depending on the market situation. Nevertheless, the company has set its larger shipment target. Analysts predict that both Apple and Samsung will reach similar yearly shipment levels of around 250 million. In fact, some experts speculate that Apple might surpass Samsung’s shipment figures in 2024, which could be concerning for the South Korean firm that has held the title of the world’s biggest smartphone brand for many years.

Samsung’s Aim to Compete with Apple by Selling More High-End Galaxy Phones

According to reports, over 75% of Samsung phones sold globally are lower-priced models. Analysts state that Samsung’s smartphone Average Selling Price (ASP) is $295, compared to Apple’s $988. To counter this, Samsung has designated 2024 as the year for its flagship smartphone counterattack, intending to sell more high-end phones and secure a position for its high-end Galaxy phones in the top 10 best-selling smartphones list.

Daniel Araujo, Corporate VP at Samsung MX, stated, “We expect the demand for premium-centered smartphones to increase in the next replacement cycle. We achieved double-digit growth in annual flagship shipments and surpassed the market’s growth rate of sales.” Additionally, Samsung aims to sell over 10 million Galaxy Z series smartphones.

It has been reported that Samsung believes it can bridge the gap with Apple if it integrates on-device AI and improves its operating system. To achieve this, the South Korean company plans to collaborate with Google and Microsoft to bring Google Bard or ChatGPT to its smartphones, starting with the Galaxy S24 series. On the other hand, Apple seeks to increase shipment volumes to enhance revenue from its services, such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, and iCloud Drive.
