Bookmakers Halt Betting on Lucas Paqueta Receiving Booking Due to Integrity Concerns from FA Investigation on West Ham Player

Exclusive: Bookmakers Suspend Betting on Lucas Paqueta Being Booked Amid FA Investigation into West Ham Star

In a move to protect bookmakers and ensure integrity, several major high street bookmakers in Britain, including Betway, have suspended card betting on Lucas Paqueta. This decision comes in light of an ongoing investigation by the FA into suspicious betting activity surrounding Paqueta’s bookings. The investigation, which first came to light after an £85 million transfer to Manchester City fell through, focuses on three particular bookings received by Paqueta in previous Premier League matches.

West Ham sponsor Betway, who reported the initial suspicious bets ahead of a game against Aston Villa, has now suspended all betting on West Ham players being booked in their upcoming Premier League fixture against Luton. Following suit, other bookmakers such as William Hill, Bet365, Betfair, Paddy Power, and SkyBet have also removed betting markets on Paqueta being booked.

These market suspensions were independently made by the bookmakers after consultations with their legal departments, without involvement from the FA. However, the FA is likely to welcome this move as they have been advocating for the removal of all yellow card markets on integrity grounds. When approached for comment, West Ham declined.
