Book Claims Phil Mickelson Wagered Over $1 Billion on Sports Bets, Alleges Reports

Professional golfer Phil Mickelson’s gambling habits are the subject of a forthcoming book called “Gambler: Secrets from a Life at Risk.” Authored by Mickelson’s former associate, Billy Walters, the book reveals that Mickelson has allegedly wagered over $1 billion on football, basketball, and baseball games over the past 30 years. In one instance, Mickelson reportedly asked Walters to place a $400,000 bet on the U.S. team to win the Ryder Cup in 2012. Walters, known as one of America’s most successful gamblers, details his partnership with Mickelson, stating that Mickelson had two offshore betting accounts that accepted large wagers. Mickelson’s betting limits for college football and NFL games were set at $400,000 per sport. While Mickelson’s representatives have not commented on the book, it is known that Mickelson has faced scrutiny over his gambling activities in the past, including allegations of involvement in an illegal gambling operation in 2015 and an insider-trading scandal in 2014.
