Biden Beer Limit Proposal Leaves White House Press Secretary Stunned

Conservatives are once again stirring up unnecessary panic surrounding beer. Following a summer of Bud Light boycotts, some on the right are now fearmongering about President Joe Biden endorsing a two-beer-a-week limit for Americans. However, during a press briefing in Washington, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was caught off guard by Fox News’ Peter Doocy’s question about new drinking restrictions.

Doocy asked if President Biden wants to limit Americans to two beers a week, leaving Jean-Pierre flabbergasted. She responded by asking where this idea was coming from and indicated that she had no knowledge of it. When pressed about how such limits would be received by Americans, Jean-Pierre deferred to experts for guidance.

Doocy’s question seemed to twist recent statements made by George Koob, the director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, in an interview with the Daily Mail. Koob discussed how recommendations on alcohol consumption may change in the future based on increased research. He mentioned the possibility of U.S. guidelines resembling those in Canada, where the recommendation is to have no more than two drinks a week to avoid alcohol-related consequences.

Currently, guidelines from the United States Department of Agriculture suggest that men should not consume more than two drinks per day, or 14 drinks per week, while women should stick to one drink per day. However, these recommendations may change after 2025. It should be noted that any changes in guidance would be advisory and it is unclear how an anti-drinking mandate could be enforced.

In conclusion, the panic surrounding a supposed two-beer-a-week limit is unfounded and lacks concrete evidence. It is essential to rely on accurate information and expert guidance when discussing alcohol consumption and potential public health recommendations.
