Bellingham of Real Madrid: Bernabeu’s reaction is the loudest I’ve ever experienced

Jude Bellingham described the fans’ overwhelming response to his 95th-minute goal in Real Madrid’s 2-1 comeback victory over Getafe as the “most resounding moment I’ve ever witnessed in a stadium.”

Getafe took the lead with Borja Mayoral’s goal in the 11th minute at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Joselu equalized after halftime, and Bellingham, aged 20, scored a dramatic late winner, marking his fifth goal in four appearances.

With this result, Madrid maintains a perfect record this season and currently tops the LaLiga standings with 12 points.

“The noise level in the stadium was unbelievable,” Bellingham shared with Real Madrid TV. “I can’t believe it, honestly. When ‘Hey Jude’ started playing at the end, I got goosebumps. I just wanted to turn around, stand still, and listen to it.”

“My legs were trembling,” added Bellingham. “I know that I was brought here for these kinds of moments. They are the moments I know I can deliver for this team. I want to continue doing it and ensure the fans go home happy.”

Madrid invested €103 million ($111.2m) to secure the services of English midfielder Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

He has now scored in all four of his LaLiga appearances, which include a 2-0 victory against Athletic Club, a 3-1 win against Almeria, a 1-0 triumph over Celta Vigo, and his recent home debut goal against Getafe.

“He is an extremely dedicated professional,” said coach Carlo Ancelotti regarding Bellingham’s adaptation. “This team exudes professionalism at the highest level. He has plenty of role models. He has adapted exceptionally well.”

Ancelotti expressed his confidence in Bellingham’s goal-scoring abilities, stating, “He can easily reach 15 goals. He achieved this milestone last year with Dortmund. His ability to move without the ball sets him apart. It’s his greatest strength.”

“He is a fast learner,” Ancelotti added. “We don’t have to repeat things to him multiple times… We have shown him videos of his performances at Dortmund, highlighting the aspects we admired.”

“The main difference now is that he moves much more in the opposition box without the ball. At Dortmund, he used to play between the lines.”

Getafe, the opposing team, signed Mason Greenwood on loan from Manchester United on the final day of the transfer window.

Manchester United allowed the forward to leave following a six-month investigation into his conduct, which ended with no guilty verdict in a criminal case involving allegations of attempted rape and assault.

“Greenwood’s situation is delicate,” commented Getafe coach Jose Bordalas. “Everyone is aware of what happened and how it concluded, without a guilty verdict… We all know his potential. He aims to restore his professional status, and Getafe can assist him in that regard.”
