Barbara Walters’ Representative Refutes Allegation of Assault on Sage Steele

  • During an interview with Megyn Kelly, former ESPN journalist Sage Steele revealed that Barbara Walters allegedly elbowed and pushed her while co-hosting “The View” in 2014.
  • A representative for Barbara Walters’ estate denied the allegation in a statement to Insider.

A representative for Barbara Walters’ estate has denied the claim that she “elbowed” Sage Steele while co-hosting “The View” in 2014, describing it as “impossible to believe and uncharacteristic of Barbara!”

Sage Steele, a former ESPN journalist, made this accusation during an interview on “The Megyn Kelly Show.” The alleged incident occurred during a discussion about former President Barack Obama.

Barbara Walters co-founded “The View” in 1997 and retired from television in 2014, the same year Steele co-hosted the show.

Steele described the incident, saying, “It was Barbara, Whoopi, and myself in the dark green room off to the side. I was standing about four feet from the wall and the trash can, and Barbara was in front of me. She suddenly backed up and elbowed me, pushing me into the wall and the trash can.”

Steele expressed her shock at the alleged behavior, stating, “I was like, ‘What did this 140-year-old woman just do to me? She just tried to tackle me!'” Whoopi Goldberg witnessed the incident and supported Steele, telling her not to let it happen again.
