The 15th annual Atlantic Festival is set to commence on Thursday, Sept. 28, presenting an array of captivating events and distinguished speakers from the realms of politics, literature, film, and business. In partnership with CBS News, The Atlantic Festival will feature thought-provoking conversations moderated by CBS News journalists, held on various stages in Washington, D.C.
Among the prominent figures participating in the festival is Hillary Clinton, who will engage in a discussion with The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, on Friday morning. Their conversation will delve into the topic of existential threats to democracy.
Furthermore, Goldberg will conduct interviews with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Other notable speakers scheduled to appear on stage include Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution Lonnie G. Bunch III, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Utah Governor Spencer Cox, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas), former congressman and 2024 Republican presidential candidate Will Hurd, and former Representative Gabby Giffords. The festival will also explore the potential and risks of artificial intelligence through a conversation with Mira Murati, the chief technology officer of OpenAI.
In addition, actor, producer, and activist Kerry Washington, as well as award-winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, are slated to make appearances.
The evening of Sept. 28 will feature the premiere of Netflix’s upcoming docuseries “Big Vape: The Rise and Fall of Juul,” followed by a discussion with the series’s director, the renowned documentarian R. J. Cutler.
On Sept. 29, there will be a night of live storytelling with filmmaker Spike Lee, in conversation with The Atlantic’s contributing writer Jemele Hill.
