In a major breakthrough, police have apprehended a third individual in connection with the ambush-style murder of Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan last year. Surprisingly, the suspect turned out to be his ex-wife, Shanna Gardner-Fernandez. Reports from Fox News indicate that Gardner-Fernandez is now facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder. Prosecutors have alleged that she collaborated with her new husband, Mario Fernandez, who was previously arrested, according to a report by ABC News. The alleged gunman, Henry Teton, who confessed following his detainment, is now cooperating with the investigation against Fernandez, his former landlord, as part of a plea bargain agreement.
On Thursday, Melissa Nelson, a state attorney in Florida, stated, “This investigation has uncovered the truth of Jared’s murder. Henry Tenon did not act alone. Mario Fernandez did not plan alone, and Shanna Gardner’s indictment acknowledges her central and key role in the cold, calculated, and premeditated murder of Jared Bridegan.” According to News4Jax, the victim was fatally shot on February 16, 2022, in the upscale Jacksonville Beach suburb. He had exited his vehicle to deal with a tire on the road, which prosecutors believe was intentionally placed there as a trap.
Bridegan had just dropped off his 10-year-old twins, whom he shared with Gardner-Fernandez, at her residence. He was en route back home to his new wife, who had an infant and a 2-year-old daughter with him. The 2-year-old was present in the vehicle when her father was shot, but fortunately, she remained unharmed.
