Two teenage boys arrested for armed robbery at Burbank In-N-Out Burger parking lot
An armed robbery took place at around 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday in Burbank, specifically in the 700 block of North First Street. Two individuals were robbed at gunpoint by two masked suspects. Burbank Police Department Sgt. Stephen Turner provided this information.
Police officers on the scene spotted a black Mercedes-Benz SUV speeding away from the restaurant. They tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver chose to flee south on the Golden State (5) Freeway. The officers decided not to pursue. Later on, the suspects abandoned their vehicle in Glendale and escaped on foot.
Witnesses saw the two suspects enter Benjamin Franklin Elementary School on Lake Street (in the 1600 block), according to Turner. This led Burbank and Glendale police officials to establish a perimeter. Eventually, one of the suspects surrendered, while the other was apprehended with the help of a police dog.
No weapons were found, but evidence linking the suspects to the robbery, including the victims’ property, was recovered by the police. The suspects, aged 15 and 16, have not been named due to their age.
