Hollywood star Anthony Mackie expressed his “intimidation” at the addition of screen legend Harrison Ford to the cast of the highly-anticipated film “Captain America: Brave New World.”
“I was incredibly nervous to the point where I couldn’t even remember my lines. It’s Harrison fucking Ford,” said Mackie, who plays the titular character in the movie, as per IndieWire.
However, Ford’s charm quickly eased the tension.
“There’s this aura surrounding him. But he dispels it really quickly because he’s such a cool guy,” Mackie revealed. “He embodies everything a movie star should be. He’d say, ‘Let’s shoot this piece of shit.’ And everybody would be like, ‘Yeah, let’s shoot this shit.'”
Ford is entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a character previously portrayed by the late William Hurt.
Mackie mentioned his close collaboration with Ford.
“We spent a significant amount of time together,” he told IndieWire. “Ross and Cap have always had that kind of relationship, where they were friends and respected each other, but they often clashed. That’s their dynamic in the storyline.”
Ford will continue to portray Ross in the MCU, appearing in “Thunderbolts” as well.
Ford, who will celebrate his 81st birthday next week, is currently starring in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” the fifth and final film in the franchise. He is also expected to receive at least one and possibly two Emmy nominations later this month for his performances in “Shrinking” and “1923.”
“Captain America: Brave New World” is slated for release next summer, while “Thunderbolts” will hit theaters in December 2024.
