Amusement Park’s Acrobat Show Marred by Collapsed Diving Platform

A diving platform at Germany’s largest amusement park collapsed during a pirate-themed acrobat show, resulting in injuries to seven individuals. The incident occurred during a performance of the acrobat show “Retorno dos Piratas” at Germany’s Europa Park when a mobile pool ruptured, causing the diving towers to collapse. This information was reported by German news outlet The Local de. Water from the mobile pool flooded the Atlantica SuperSplash water ride, and debris from the show’s set was observed floating in the water. Police stated that a total of five performers and two visitors were injured, with three performers being taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

In an unrelated event, the amusement park, located in the German town of Rust near the French and Swiss borders, experienced a fire in June that led to an evacuation. However, no visitors were harmed in that incident, but two firefighters sustained minor injuries. The water ride affected by the diving platform collapse was reopened on Wednesday, according to a park spokesperson. Europa Park attracts over 6 million visitors annually and holds the title of Germany’s largest theme park.

A video of the incident shows people on the Atlantica SuperSplash ride coming to a halt due to the collapse. One individual can be heard in the video expressing their frustration in French. The Associated Press has contributed to this report.
