Allan Winans had never been to Citi Field during his time with the Mets.
However, his first visit to Queens turned out to be quite special as he secured his first major league victory as a member of the Braves.
Winans, a former Mets draft pick, dominated his old organization, throwing seven scoreless innings in the Braves’ 21-3 blowout win against the Mets in the first game of a day-night doubleheader at Citi Field.
The Mets went on to suffer a 6-0 loss in the nightcap.
“I’m really happy with where I am right now,” Winans commented after his second start in the big leagues.
The Mets selected Winans in the 17th round of the 2018 draft from Campbell University.
He was initially a starting pitcher in college but was converted into a reliever by the Mets.
