Addressing Joe Biden’s Age Concerns: Exploring Readers’ Opinions in Letters to the Editor

The Issue: A poll revealing that two-thirds of Democrats believe President Biden is too old for a second term.

Put a stop to the notion that President Biden is too old — he’s too naive (“Not grand old party, Joe,” Sept. 5).

He has never excelled in domestic or foreign affairs. He has never been an intellectual or visionary in any area except campaigning.

Joe has excelled in one thing, and that is deceiving his constituents. It is only fitting that his more than 40 years of lying and stealing from the American public will end in disgrace.

Despite his age, I am voting for Biden for re-election because I want a president who is honest, not a pathological liar; kind, not cruel; a statesman, not a con artist.

I want someone who is empathetic, not narcissistic; someone who will treat women and the disabled with respect, not mock them.

I don’t understand why any American would even consider voting for Donald Trump, who hates democracy and loves dictators, and whose only goal seems to be to be president for life.

For 62 years, I have been a loyal registered Democrat.

Today, I am a disillusioned and disheartened Democrat. My party doesn’t listen or care that not only I, but many Democrats like me, cannot bring ourselves to vote for Biden. (Mind you, Donald Trump is not even an option for us.)

However, the belief that we, the disenchanted, will vote for Biden to ensure Trump doesn’t win is false.

The Democratic Party is imposing Biden on us as he becomes more senile and politically weak, and spends 40% of his time on vacations.

And let’s not forget: His irrational immigration policy is wreaking havoc on cities. His corrupt behavior with his son tarnishes his credibility. If he becomes incapacitated, Vice President Kamala Harris would be a disastrous replacement.

The Democratic Party is on a suicide mission by not offering alternative candidates to Democrats.

If a respectable Republican like Nikki Haley or Mike Pence becomes the GOP candidate in 2024, I, for the first time in my life, will vote Republican — as the negligent Democrats lose with Joe.

With concerns about the ages of both Biden and Trump, Nikki Haley is suggesting mental competency tests for politicians over 75. But why stop there?

If we tested all politicians for their mental sharpness, integrity, and honesty, many would soon be out of a job.

Many professions have a retirement age so that people can enjoy themselves before old age hinders their performance. But in reality, it is often a way to get rid of them before they become incapable of doing their jobs and become a burden on the business.

Although these tests are being discussed, they are unlikely to be implemented due to fear that numerous politicians would be removed.

Think carefully about who you vote for and choose someone who will make the country a better place.

Only two-thirds of Democrats feel that Joe Biden is too old?

I’m not sure what the other third is thinking, but it is clear: Biden is experiencing some sort of mental decline, evident through his rambling and stumbling.

The passage of time can be cruel, and Joe’s nonsensical actions are a prime example of that cruelty. The fact that one-third of Democrats believe he is fit to run again is even scarier than Joe himself.

I am tired of hearing that Biden should not be president because of his age. No. Age doesn’t matter. Warren Buffet is successfully running a company at the age of 93.

Biden has a cognitive problem. Over the years, I have seen him on TV, making embarrassing mistakes. This can happen when you are 60. It’s not about age, but rather an illness. You can be 60 and have dementia.

He should not be president because his policies are destroying this once-beautiful country.

Someday, there will be a revealing book, and we will know exactly who was running the White House.
