Acting Career Nearly Destroyed by Stalker

Sadly, soap opera icon Andrea Evans has passed away at the age of 66 due to breast cancer, according to USA Today. Recognized for her notable roles as Tina Lord on One Life to Live, for which she received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1988, and as Patty Williams on The Young and the Restless, Evans had a remarkable career spanning various soap operas. Notably, she portrayed Tawny Moore on The Bold and the Beautiful, Rebecca Hotchkiss on Passions, and Patty Walker on Amazon Prime’s The Bay, as reported by Deadline. Furthermore, she earned a second Daytime Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Vivian Price in the web series DeVanity in 2015.

Reflecting on her life, former manager Don Carroll shared, “People often assume that she must be very similar to the characters she portrayed on television. In reality, her most cherished moments were spent without any makeup, with her hair in pigtails, wearing a ballcap at Disneyland with her daughter Kylie,” as mentioned in People. The Los Angeles Times highlights that Evans’ career faced a major setback in 1990 due to a stalker. Consequently, she stepped away from acting and remained largely out of the public eye for approximately ten years, as per Deadline.

Evans opened up about her life-altering experience in a 2008 interview with People, remarking, “The fear forever changed me. There’s no way it could not have.” She recounted an incident in 1987 when she was confronted by a Russian immigrant in the lobby of the One Life to Live studio in Manhattan. The individual relentlessly pursued her, sending death threats written in blood for several years. Eventually, the man was arrested outside the office of the Secretary of State in DC, armed with a meat cleaver and a photo of Evans.
