President Biden had a conversation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel on Sunday, according to a statement from the White House. During the call, they discussed the situation in Gaza and the surrounding region, as well as the recent release of two American hostages by Hamas on Friday.
Meanwhile, the United Nations announced that 14 trucks carrying humanitarian aid were permitted to enter Gaza, following the first trucks from Egypt that arrived a day earlier. These efforts aim to address the severe humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s blockage of the strip after a violent incident involving Hamas fighters on October 7.
The White House readout of the call stated, “The leaders affirmed that there will now be a continued flow of this critical assistance into Gaza.”
