Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly informed President Biden that a ground operation in the Gaza Strip is necessary following deadly strikes by Hamas on Israel.
During a phone call between the two leaders, Biden expressed concerns about Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip if a ground operation were to commence, according to three Israeli and U.S. sources briefed on the call.
“We must take action. Negotiation is not an option,” Netanyahu told the president, as reported by Axios.
Netanyahu also explained to Biden that Israel is compelled to respond with force, as displaying weakness in the volatile Middle East is not an option, Axios cited the sources.
