In New York City, a former player for the New York Giants appeared in court and confessed to attempting to sell drugs laced with fentanyl while on compassionate release. Clyde ‘Peter’ Hall, 84 years old, referenced his NFL career when admitting to his knowledge of selling cocaine, emphasizing that he knew it was against the law.
Hall was granted compassionate release during the COVID-19 pandemic while serving a 20-year sentence for financial fraud. It was during this period that he was caught attempting to sell six kilograms of cocaine on April 24, 2021.

Hall claimed he was unaware that the individual purchasing the drugs was actually an informant for the Drug Enforcement Administration, and their phone conversations had been recorded.
Before reaching a plea deal, the former wide receiver faced a potential life sentence. Under the terms of the deal, he could now face 11-14 years in prison based on federal sentencing guidelines for attempting to sell a controlled substance containing fentanyl.
Additionally, Hall will serve the remainder of his 20-year prison sentence, scheduled to conclude in 2026.
‘Clyde has taken full responsibility for his actions. Despite his age, we are hopeful that he will not spend the rest of his life behind bars,’ stated his attorney Jason Goldman.
