7 Major Las Vegas Strip Resorts Found to Have Bed Bug Infestation

  • Seven hotels on the Las Vegas Strip have been found to have bed bugs by a Nevada health agency.
  • Tropicana Las Vegas, which had a bed bug issue in February, stated that it immediately isolates rooms upon receiving a complaint about bed bugs.
  • Hotels are susceptible to bed bug infestations due to high turnover in occupancy.

A complaint obtained by local news outlet KLAS reveals that health inspectors have discovered bedbugs in seven resorts on the Las Vegas Strip over the past year and a half.

The list includes Circus Circus, Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Palazzo, Tropicana, MGM Grand, and Sahara.

Insider’s request for comment on the complaint went unanswered by all seven hotels.

MGM Resorts, which had a bed bug problem in January 2022, stated that it has comprehensive procedures in place to address and resolve any issues that arise.

According to KLAS, bed bugs were found in one room at the MGM Grand and that room was treated.

In February, bed bugs were discovered inside Tropicana Las Vegas. The hotel claims that bed bugs are highly unlikely but takes immediate action by isolating affected rooms and surrounding areas upon receiving a complaint.

Hotels are especially vulnerable to bed bug infestations due to their high turnover of occupancy, as stated by The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

The agency explains that people unknowingly bring bed bugs into hotels through infested luggage, clothing, blankets, or pillows.

According to the agency, there is little that can be done to prevent guests from introducing bed bugs, and no hotel is immune to infestations.

The report suggests that the best way to eliminate bed bugs is to clean, disinfect, and remove their hiding places.

Due to the ability of bed bugs to survive for months without food or water, exterminators often recommend the use of pesticides.

Insider’s request for comment from the Southern Nevada Health District has not been answered as of Sunday.
