A 37-year-old woman in West Virginia suffered a stroke after riding a fast-spinning ride at a county fair.
This incident is one of only 20 recorded cases worldwide of a stroke being triggered by an amusement park ride.
While on the ride, which swung people rapidly in circles, the woman developed a headache and lost control of the muscles on the right side of her body.
Upon exiting the ride, she struggled to walk properly.

Concerned for her well-being, her husband promptly took her to the emergency department, where she was diagnosed with vertigo—a condition characterized by dizziness caused by issues with the inner ear or brain.
Initially, she was prescribed anti-nausea medication and sent home, but her symptoms persisted and she had to be readmitted to the hospital.
Doctors discovered that her heart and breathing rates had significantly increased, and her blood pressure was dangerously high. Furthermore, she had a previous history of high blood pressure.
A CT scan of her brain revealed the presence of dead tissue near an artery that supplies the right side of the brain—a clear indication that she had experienced a stroke.
