27 people injured in the most recent attack by Russia on southern Ukraine

Russian strikes on Ukraine’s southern cities, including the port city of Odesa, have resulted in the injury of at least 27 people and the loss of two lives.

These attacks, occurring for the third consecutive day, followed Russia’s announcement of the suspension of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, a diplomatic agreement allowing Ukrainian grain exports from Odesa.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his condemnation of the Russian terrorists’ actions, stating on Telegram, “Russian terrorists continue their efforts to destroy the life of our country. Unfortunately, there are wounded, there are dead. My condolences to my family and friends!” Moreover, he added, “But there is no evil state of missiles that would be stronger than our will to save lives, support each other, and emerge victorious.”

Odesa Governor Oleg Kiper reported that Russian strikes inflicted damage on both the port and civilian infrastructure, including the Chinese consulate in the city. The attack resulted in two casualties and eight injuries during the rescue efforts, according to Kiper.

Kiper argued, “The aggressor deliberately targets port infrastructure, along with administrative and residential buildings, as well as the consulate of the People’s Republic of China. This indicates that the enemy disregards everything.”

The attack is a response to Russia’s pursuit of “retribution” for a strike on the Kerch Bridge, which connects Crimea to Russia, on Monday. Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the attack, which bears similarities to the 2022 attack on the bridge, for which the Ukrainian government also denied responsibility.

In addition, Russian missiles destroyed an apartment building in Mykolaiv, another Black Sea city, leading to at least 19 injuries, officials stated.
