$250,000 Rewards Await! Help Us Catch the Ambush Killer of Deputy and Be Handsomely Rewarded!

Sheriff’s deputies and law enforcement officials are in pursuit of the individual who fatally shot a deputy near the Palmdale station, and have offered a reward of $250,000 for any information regarding the attack. The victim, Ryan Clinkunbroomer, a third-generation Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, was shot while sitting in his patrol car and was discovered in critical condition on Saturday evening.

Ryan Clinkunbroomer unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later that night. Reports suggest that he was shot while waiting at a red light in his patrol car and was found near the Sierra Highway and East Avenue Q intersection with a gunshot wound to the head.

During a press conference, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna expressed his grief for the loss and described the incident as a targeted ambush killing. He appealed to the community, urging anyone with information related to the shooting, particularly in the area of Sierra Highway at around 6 p.m. on Saturday, to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau or Crime Stoppers.

In a subsequent press conference, Luna announced that the car seen alongside Deputy Clinkunbroomer’s patrol vehicle in a widely circulated video was being considered a vehicle of interest. The car, described as a 2006-2012 dark gray Toyota Corolla, could potentially hold crucial information about the incident.

Various agencies responded to the killing by offering reward amounts. Supervisor Kathryn Barger pledged $100,000 on behalf of the Board of Supervisors, while the city of Palmdale matched the amount. Additionally, the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs contributed $50,000 to the reward fund.

News of the deputy’s death resulted in an outpouring of sadness and anger from local law enforcement and officials. Statements were made promising full support in bringing the perpetrator to justice.

Ryan Clinkunbroomer had been with the Palmdale station since July 2018 and served as a field training officer. Luna mentioned that as an eight-year veteran of the department, Clinkunbroomer was highly regarded and held the position of a field training officer.

The news of Clinkunbroomer’s death prompted Governor Gavin Newsom and Acting Governor Eleni Kounalakis to order flags at the state Capitol and Capitol Annex Swing Space to be flown at half-staff. They conveyed their deepest sympathies to Deputy Clinkunbroomer’s loved ones and colleagues.

In response to the incident, Rep. Mike Garcia posted a video message condemning the gunman and called for the passage of a bill to make killing a law enforcement officer a federal felony with severe penalties.

The Palmdale station expressed gratitude for the community’s support and understanding, and announced the cancellation of all community engagement events in order to mourn the loss.
