The Vios achieved an impressive 5-star rating, excelling in tests for adult occupant safety, child occupant safety, safety assist systems, and motorcyclist safety. This achievement cements the Vios’ reputation as a safe and reliable vehicle.

Impressive Crash Test Results for the 2023 Toyota Vios

The tested Toyota Vios is a Malaysia-spec vehicle and is also sold in Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, and Cambodia. The G trim level, equipped with a powerful 1.5L engine, boasts a curb weight of 1035 kg and comes with 6 airbags. In some markets, the Vios is marketed as the Yaris, available in both hatchback and sedan variations.

Testing was conducted according to the ASEAN NCAP’s 2021-2025 protocol. The test vehicle featured several advanced safety features, including ESC (Electronic Stability Control), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), SBR (Seatbelt Reminder System) for both front and rear seat occupants, and various pedestrian protection features across all variants.

The safety assist category resulted in a score of 16.88/21 points. The Toyota Vios achieved 6/6 points for EBA (Emergency Brake Assist), 4.5/6 points for SBR (Seat Belt Reminders), 1.63/2.50 and 2.33/3.5 points for AEB (Auto Emergency Braking) in city and inter-urban environments, respectively, and 2.42/3 points for advanced SATs (Safety Assist Technologies).
