Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, dismissed the notion of a “cage fight” with Elon Musk, stating that he doesn’t believe Musk is serious and it’s time to move forward. In a post on his Threads social media platform, Zuckerberg wrote, “I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on.”
Zuckerberg further added, “If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”
This statement from Zuckerberg comes after weeks of speculation surrounding a potential showdown between the two tech billionaires. Musk had previously stated in June that he was “up for a cage match if [Zuckerberg] is.”
However, Musk announced last week that the timing of the match was uncertain due to possible minor surgery. He also teased an “epic location” in Italy, which he claimed to have confirmed with Italian officials. Musk mentioned that the fight would be facilitated by their respective foundations, rather than the UFC.
Zuckerberg, on the other hand, dismissed Musk’s remarks and expressed doubt that a cage fight would ever happen. He stated, “I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me. If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on.”
In his recent post, Zuckerberg referred to Musk’s comments and reiterated his intention to focus on competing with opponents who take the sport seriously. He mentioned the offers of a real date and the proposition from Dana White to make it a legitimate charity competition. However, he highlighted how Musk has failed to confirm a date, claimed to need surgery, and now suggests a practice round in Zuckerberg’s backyard instead.
