Zuckerberg asserts preparedness for a confrontation with Elon Musk

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, has expressed his readiness to engage in a battle against his billionaire counterpart, Elon Musk. This ongoing rivalry between the tech moguls has escalated with the introduction of Zuckerberg’s social network platform, Threads, which directly competes with Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter.

The dispute began when Musk challenged Zuckerberg to a “cage match” in June, a proposal that Zuckerberg promptly accepted. Demonstrating his enthusiasm for the event, Zuckerberg declared, “I am passionate about this sport and have been prepared for a fight since the day Elon challenged me. Once an actual date is agreed upon, I will personally inform everyone. Until then, please do not assume that anything he says has been confirmed.” In his recent Threads post on Friday, Zuckerberg hinted at his upcoming fight, promising to disclose the details when he is ready.

Zuckerberg further emphasized his determination by sharing an image of himself sparring in his own “backyard octagon.” In comparison, photographs suggest that the 52-year-old Musk is less physically fit than the 39-year-old Zuckerberg, adding an extra layer of competition to their clash. Zuckerberg, having already achieved victory in his first amateur Brazilian jiujitsu tournament in May, has been posting pictures of his muscular physique in anticipation of the impending confrontation. Meanwhile, Musk has been training alongside Brazilian jiujitsu black belt, Lex Fridman.

Musk envisions the event as a grand spectacle reminiscent of “ancient Rome.” He revealed that the fight will be organized by both his and Zuckerberg’s foundations, rather than the UFC, and will be livestreamed on platforms such as Meta and this platform. He also assured that the setting will exude an ancient Roman ambiance, with no modern elements whatsoever. Musk even discussed the concept with Gennaro Sangiuliano, the Italian Minister of Culture, who expressed his support for a large-scale charitable and historically significant gathering.

Fox Business reported that Musk stated all proceeds from the event would be donated to veterans and pediatric hospitals. Furthermore, subscribers to Twitter Blue will receive bonus content related to the fight.
