Young Vivek Ramaswamy Questions Candidate About Their Experience

Vivek Ramaswamy once posed a thought-provoking question that is relevant to his current situation.

Ramaswamy, a successful businessman with no prior political experience, is currently running for the GOP presidential nomination. However, back in 2003, he was an 18-year-old student at Harvard University who questioned Rev. Al Sharpton about his lack of experience as a Democratic presidential candidate.

“Hello, Rev. Sharpton,” said Ramaswamy during a town hall hosted by Chris Matthews on MSNBC. “I’m Vivek, and I want to ask you why I should vote for the Democratic candidate with the least political experience, especially when we’ve had Sen. Kerry and Sen. Edwards on the show.”

Sharpton, who declared his commitment to various marginalized groups upon announcing his presidential bid, had previously run for the U.S. Senate and New York City mayor but had never secured a nomination.

Ramaswamy’s question was ultimately dismissed by Sharpton.

“Well, you shouldn’t, because I possess the most political experience,” replied Sharpton. “I became involved in the political movement at the age of 12 and have been actively engaged in social policy for the past 30 years. So, let’s not confuse job experience with political experience.”

In response to the recent resurgence of the footage, Ramaswamy surprisingly admitted his past criticism and aligned himself with Sharpton.

“I must commend my 18-year-old self for eliciting the most sensible words ever spoken by that individual,” Ramaswamy wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “It’s quite amusing how the tables have turned after 20 years.”

Ramaswamy faced criticism regarding his lack of experience during the first Republican presidential debate last week.

Although GOP primary voters reportedly regarded him as one of the most promising candidates on stage, Ramaswamy was attacked by fellow contenders such as former Gov. Chris Christie, former Gov. Nikki Haley, and former Vice President Mike Pence.

Pence argued, “Now is not the time for learning on the job,” while Haley pointed out, “Your lack of foreign policy experience is evident.”

Christie also exposed Ramaswamy for recycling an old line from former President Barack Obama.

Currently, Ramaswamy polls at 7.5% among Republican voters, according to an average of surveys from RealClearPolitics. The dedicated supporter of MAGA recently expressed his intention to ask Trump to serve as his advisor if he were to win the 2024 election.
