Grayson Waller focused on Kevin Owens’ hand during their match on Friday Night SmackDown this week. Although KO won the match by roll up, WWE has now turned it into a storyline about an injury announcement.

WWE seldom announces injuries, leading to speculation that this is part of the ongoing storyline. Owens was previously announced for the United States championship number one contender tournament, but he is missing from the first round of matches next week, the same show where CM Punk will be returning to the blue brand.

Recent comments from Owens expressed his unfavorable views about Punk’s return to WWE, and the injury angle gives him a good reason to miss the show, as it would take weeks to heal. It’s unclear if he will actually miss the show, but if he does, speculation is bound to arise.
