Woman’s Death Allegedly Caused by Street-Racing Results in Two Arrests

The Los Angeles Police Department made an announcement on Thursday regarding the arrest of two individuals in connection with a tragic incident involving the death of a woman in a street-racing incident near a recording studio east of USC in July.

At a press conference, the LAPD named Javorrie Murphy, 25, of Palmdale, and Deven Wagner, 19, of Los Angeles, as the individuals taken into custody last week for the death of Anna Michelle Solis.

The victim, a 20-year-old, was hit by a car at around 10:20 p.m. on July 21 while crossing South Hill and West 33rd streets, where there was an unmarked crosswalk.

According to the police, the two men, with Murphy driving a black Jaguar and Wagner behind the wheel of a black Dodge Challenger, were allegedly engaged in street racing when the Jaguar struck Solis at a high speed while she was crossing the road.

Tragically, Solis lost her life at the scene of the incident.

“Both drivers fled northbound on Hill Street without stopping to help,” the police revealed.

Both vehicles involved in the incident were later recovered and taken into police custody as evidence.

Murphy and Wagner are currently being held in jail with a bail amount of $2 million each.

The two individuals are scheduled to appear in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom on September 1, where they will face charges of murder. Additionally, Murphy is charged with hit-and-run driving resulting in death or serious injury to another person.

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to support Anna’s family with their burial expenses. As of Thursday afternoon, the campaign has raised over $24,000.
