Wind farms cannot meet our energy demands.

SIR – Many self-proclaimed “experts” are attempting to provide explanations for the recent surge in mental health disorders among children. However, a recent joint report by two prestigious medical colleges suggests that diesel may be the culprit behind this alarming trend.

This report indicates that not only are particulates and nitrogen dioxide closely linked to delayed neurocognitive development and lower IQ in children, but there is also concerning evidence of mental disorders in children resulting from exposure to diesel fumes during pregnancy. These disorders include attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety, and depression.

In order to address this issue, the government should consider raising the price of diesel until it becomes less commonly used. Failure to do so may lead to families leaving London in large numbers, similar to what my late wife and I did in 1981 when we wanted to protect our children from exposure to lead in petrol.

A disappointing response from my MP

SIR – Charles Ives (Letters, June 5) is fortunate to have a helpful MP who assists him with matters concerning HMRC. Unfortunately, my attempts to communicate with my own MP have resulted in vague and offensive responses, or sometimes no response at all.

The enduring charm of a traditional men’s wallet

SIR – Christopher Macy (Letters, June 5) wonders if the use of traditional men’s wallets still exists in England, and where one might find such a wallet.

I would recommend visiting a street market. My father did just that and discovered a stall offering a variety of leather goods. He chose a soft brown wallet, which remains in excellent condition even after five years of use.

SIR – While shopping at Selfridges, I stumbled upon a wallet measuring 4½ inches by 3½ inches. Priced at £320, I was assured it was a special item. However, in the end, I opted for a smaller back-pocket wallet from M&S for only £12. As a retiree, I rarely wear a suit jacket nowadays.

SIR – To find the exact wallet Mr. Macy is seeking, he should explore online options using the term “breast wallet.”

SIR – Mr. Macy should avoid large department stores and mail-order companies, and instead search for small independent retailers specializing in leather goods. My own successful search recently led me to such a shop in Llandudno.

SIR – When it came time to replace my wallet, my wife wisely sought advice from the Queen. Launer, the prestigious manufacturer of her handbags, also produces gentlemen’s wallets in various sizes to fit different pockets.

SIR – I happen to possess the exact wallet Mr. Macy is looking for. It is in excellent condition with sections for pound and 10 shilling notes. He is more than welcome to have it.
