To all Marvel fans: There’s no need to watch the Loki Season 2 finale before catching The Marvels at the theater. The last episode of the show’s second season premieres on Disney+ this Thursday night, just as Captain Marvel’s not-so-solo adventure hits the big screen. According to Loki’s head writer Eric Martin, there won’t be a direct bleed over of events from the series into The Marvels. Speaking with Yahoo Entertainment, Martin suggests that the story unfolds naturally and will be a part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) going forward.
Loki’s second season has strongly emphasized the multiversal concept that forms the basis of the current MCU phase and has featured the mysterious character Kang, portrayed by Jonathan Majors. While the show ties into the larger Marvel storylines, Martin has revealed that the creators have been able to operate independently in planning the season’s arc.
On the subject of the rumored Marvel Spotlight series and shake-ups at Marvel’s television arm, Martin expresses confidence in the Loki team’s ability to remain committed to producing quality work. As for the future of Loki in the MCU, there is no confirmation of another season, but Martin says that Tom Hiddleston is more than willing to continue portraying the character.
As for fan theories, Martin laughs off the speculation that new character OB might be a Kang variant. Meanwhile, he expresses opennes to other MCU creators incorporating Loki characters into their projects, but asserts that he doesn’t want to let any of them go.
Capture the latest season of Loki on Disney+ with the season finale also dropping on Disney+. For the ultimate cinematic experience, catch The Marvels which will be playing in theaters from November 10th.
